Description

Digital Media & Website Management (50%)
*Plan updates for the FOLKS website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and consistent. (A contractor will manage the site.)
*Create, schedule, and monitor social media content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), engaging with the community to increase awareness and support.
*Monitor and analyze communication metrics (website traffic, email engagement, social media analytics) to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Content Creation & Advocacy (30%)
*Develop content for advocacy and education campaigns, including action alerts, fact sheets, blog posts, and educational materials that distill complex environmental issues into clear, accessible language.
*Write various communications, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand voice across all platforms.
*Collaborate with the Community Engagement Director and conservation teams to gather stories, impact updates, and project highlights for use in member and public communications.

Membership & Administrative Support (20%)
*Assist with membership records and data entry using the organization's CRM or database system, ensuring accuracy and supporting member retention strategies.
*Provide general administrative support as needed, which may include assisting with event coordination, managing shared calendars, or compiling reports.
*Respond to member and public inquiries received via email or social media in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

Experience & Education:
*One to two years of experience in communications, marketing, content creation, administration, or a related field.
*Relevant college education (e.g., in Communications, Marketing, Environmental Science, Journalism, or Non-Profit Management) may be accepted in place of direct work experience.

Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell powerful stories.

Tech Proficiency:
*Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress (preferred).
*Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
*Experience with email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) a plus.
*Comfortable using CRM/membership databases a plus.

Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and stay organized in a remote work environment.

Mission Alignment: A genuine passion for environmental conservation, water quality issues, and the mission of the Friends of Lake Keowee Society.

Location: Must be available to attend occasional events and meetings in Oconee and Pickens Counties.
