Oconee County First Steps works collaboratively to ensure that all children start school ready to reach their highest potential with engaged support from their parents, caregivers, and communities.
Way to Get Involved:
Volunteer
Oconee County First Steps needs volunteers to help within our various partner programs, and we also need administrative assistance periodically.
Sponsor A Program
Our partners help facilitate, guide, and fund the various initiatives of OCFS. Partner with us by sponsoring a program and/or serving on our board.
Provide a Child's Library
Oconee County First Steps partners with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide the children of Oconee County with free books. For $31 a year, you can provide support for one child to receive books.
Who they Serve:
- Number of Oconee County children under 5: 3,871
- Percentage of Oconee County children birth-age 5 living in poverty: 57%
- Percentage of kindergartners are considered “not ready” for school: 70%
